My dear readers and friends, I hope you got a great holidays.
What a great way to start this 2017, British Airways is back to Chile after 17 years and with a non-stop flight !!
British flow between London and Santiago via Buenos Aires between 1993 and 2000.
Today, January 04, 2017, British Airways is back, with a top-of-the-art Airplane, the Boeing 787-9 and with a non-stop flight, making it the longest flight for British Airways, 14 hours and 40 minutes.
So, thanks to British Airways, Nuevo Pudahuel and the DGAC a group of spotters were available to be present and record this great moment on aviation history for SCEL. Also we were available to get into the Boeing 787-9, which will be come later in this report.
I arrive 8:20am to the airport and we had let get in around 09:00am. The plane was schedule to land at 09:40am as “Speedbird 251”. We took a bus that drove us to the SSEI station, which is located close to Hotel and Kilo Taxiway. Unfortunately, due the time, all the photos of the first landing are backlit with means that the sun was in front of us, but at this moment doesn't matter.
The next photos are during the bus travel to our spotting location:

Once we were inside, you can see the special cake, prepared specially for this occasion:
During the ceremony, the Crew that flow from EGLL to SCEL, show up:
Very nice people, I talk to one of them, and he told me a few interesting this about the flight, one of them, was that they did an auto land CAT IIIB when they land today. Also one of them told me that he was a Boeing 747 and Boeing 777 captain, before became captain of the Boeing 787-9 :

This is the Club World (Business class), 42 seats, which have a particular seat configuration, all windows seat and the middle seat, are facing blackguards, this means that you see to the back of the plane or directly to the other passenger face looking forward:
This is the World Traveller (Economy), 127 seats. They are standard, all this personal screen for entertainment:
World Traveller Plus, 39 seats, more space, only two on the sides, it’s remand me the Boeing 767-300 configuration, but let me tell you, the Boeing 787 with this configuration is better:
First Class, 8 seats, I only say… big screen, je je je:
After a 13 minute visit, we were out :
An then, directly to the bus, to the exit. This last two shoot are from the bus, this great and elegant airplane.
It was a great experience, to be present at this important moment for Santiago’s Airport, for British Airways and for all Boeing Fans that we are delighted to have another Boeing present, flying on Chilean Airspace. Also is kind of neat to hear the call sign “SpeedBird” on the radio.
Once again, Thank you very much to British Airways, Nuevo Pudahuel and DGAC for making it possible.

Bonus:
Boeing 777-300ER, Orange Pride, PH-BVA, the transition between the orange and the classic blue, features aspects of the Dutch flag. The combination emphasizes KLM’s Dutch roots and pride in the national colour of the Netherlands.
After a few hours, is back taxing, this time to takeoff on runway 17R:
Nice photo, this the orange KLM and Sky Airlines’ A-319 taking off from runway 17R:
